Progress slow in talks with PSAC/UPCE

After two months without meeting, bargaining teams for Canada Post and the Public Service Alliance of Canada/Union of Postal Communications Employees (PSAC/UPCE) returned to the negotiating table for three days this week. Talks continue to move forward, but without major progress.

We have communicated to PSAC/UPCE our willingness to negotiate wage and benefits increases and other improvements, as well as our eagerness to meet at any time to reach a new collective agreement in a timely manner. However, the pace of negotiations has not quickened. Since notice to bargain was issued on August 10, 2016, the parties have only met face-to-face 14 days in total in the last year.

The parties are not scheduled to meet again until the end of September.

The Corporation remains fully committed to reaching a collective agreement that is fair for employees while meeting our business challenges and the needs of our customers.

The collective agreement expired on August 31, 2016 but will continue to apply as per the terms of the Canada Labour Code.

We will continue to keep you informed of key developments through your team leaders and head office communications.
